sembrando alardes de su corneta

Así cruzaba el tranvía
la Buenos Aires baldía

Surgiendo desde el olvido
de nuevo llega al oído
el toque de aquel clarín.
¡Pinta criolla de cochero,
verseador, dicharachero!
Hoy vuelve del novecientos,
jinete en los cuatro vientos
al son de su cornetín...

Junto a una reja de Cinco Esquinas
desgrana un aire de vidalita:
su corazón ansioso palpita
frente a la dueña de su pasión.
Un “Buenas tardes” brinda a la moza
que lo devuelve con una rosa
y el cochero echa a volar su emoción
en un toque de atención.
