Camila Alegre and Ezequiel Lopez – Viejo portón

It bled in the night, its song of anguish, Your lips trembled with intense emotion, Sorrowful, humble and mournful stanzas Hung from the eaves of the old gate. In shadows wrapped, with no other company, Than the sweet memory of a deep love, Thus his guitar, deep moaned His strings vibrated, like a woman. Pleas of the wind, voices of the plains Anguished prayers, complaints of pain, Wandering bird that one spring Like a fiery sun scorched love. Strong the affection, like a carob tree That an axe to time, easily split it, And today in the long silence of an absence A guitar cries, together with its singer. I love you, they whisper, on the banks of the river The long manes of the weeping willow, The ceiba trees bloom, wet with dew. Sad in its red, like a heart. The birds and the wind whisper: I love you! They sing to you with holy fervor, But I in my silence, patiently wait for you And hover in your life like a sunflower.
