Do you want to know how to dance some simple Solo Salsa dance steps. We'll teach you the basic beginner steps followed by a simple routine for practicing. Timestamps for the lesson breakdown have been included below.

The class starts you off with some very basic steps, working on developing the hip action and timing to begin with. We then add in some rotation for some added variety.


Next we introduce another basic Salsa step - the Cucaracha. This involves a step to the side (though without full weight) before bringing the foot back in again. You can take this move up a notch by introducing a cross in front rather than the close.


Another beginner Salsa move is a Heel Push - pushing the heel forward with part weight before closing. We also then introduced a Back Break which is a similar move to the Cucaracha and the Heel Push, but with the foot going back on the toe.


Have you wondered how to do basic Salsa? Well it was then the turn of the actual Salsa Basic. However we didn't just show you the basic beginner movement. To add some variety we took the Salsa Basic into a 'V' shape, angling the forward part of the basic step to alternating front corners.


Another beginner Salsa step, albeit a bit trickier, is the Spot Turn. This is normally danced as a step forward, spinning on the opposite foot, and landing back where you started. We did briefly discuss how to simplify the spin if you want to.


Finally we introduced a fun step called the Pata Mala.
