14 October 1919: Ángel Villoldo, who wrote El choclo, dies

Ángel Villoldo died on 14 October 1919. Born in Barracas in 1861, he was a singer, guitarist and lyricist, one of the pioneers who turned habaneras and cuplés into Argentine rhythms. His "El choclo" premiered in 1903 and is still on the floor: Di Sarli's recording has 68 videos on TangoTube. "Una fija", also his, has 285 with Di Sarli.
