La noticia del indulto
Se corrió sobre el presidio,
Hubo un soplo de alegría
En aquel rincón del sur,
Al saberlo, Miguel Ángel
Conmovido, alzó los ojos,
Era fiesta de la Patria
Todo ensueño, todo luz.
 
En la costa estaba el barco
Que de nuevo lo traería,
El recuerdo de la madre
Sus pupilas encendió,
Hubo lágrimas y abrazos
Un adiós a los amigos,
Y ante un mundo de esperanzas
Miguel Ángel se encontró.
 
En el puerto, una viejita
Encorvada por los años,
En un grito: llega al barco
Casi ahogada de emoción,
Y al preguntarle a un marino
Por su hijo Miguel Ángel,
El marino emocionado
Comenzó esta narración:
 
“La otra noche cuando el “Pampa”
Navegaba de regreso,
Miguel Ángel, entre sombras
A la borda se arrimó,
Y al amparo silencioso
De una estrella solitaria,
Estrechando un crucifijo
A las aguas se arrojó”.

English translation

The news of the pardon
It spread over the prison,
There was a breath of joy
In that corner of the south,
When Michelangelo heard it
Moved, he raised his eyes,
It was a celebration of the Fatherland
All dream, all light.
 
On the shore was the ship
That would bring him back,
The memory of his mother
Her pupils lit up,
There were tears and embraces
A farewell to friends,
And before a world of hopes
Michelangelo found himself.
 
At the port, a little old lady
Hunched by the years,
In a shout: she arrives at the ship
Almost choked with emotion,
And asking a sailor
For her son Michelangelo,
The excited sailor
Began this narration:
 
"The other night when the "Pampa"
was sailing back,
Michelangelo, in the shadows
