Hugo Mastrolorenzo, in an interview for Tango Secrets, explains how he builds a choreography out of a tango lyric: locating the character and the moment, and looking for what lies beneath the literal words. He describes how the image of two people impossible to separate, drawn from "Go, you don't understand that I'm loving you," gave rise to Amarrados (2012, with Agustina Vignau), and how the fear of losing the other person, along with the image of a clock, gave rise to Pasional (2014). He closes by explaining why he prefers to leave an idea nagging at the viewer rather than spelling it out completely: what each viewer builds from their own experience always seems richer to him.
